Original blindstamped brown cloth hardcover with spine titles, minor wear and soiling; light to moderate moisture stains on top inside corners of first 18 pages; engraved portraits of Lincoln and Hamlin with tissue guards have moderate foxing; illustration of Republican Wigwam in Chicago clean; 20th century owner's bookplate and signature on front paste down and earlier owner's business stamp on ffep; tight binding; this book was one of the official campaign biographies for the 1860 presidential compaign, and Howells, who wrote the Lincoln biography, later claimed that his book helped elect Lincoln; 406 pages.
